The reps told us that the date on the blog was for the Eurpean release only but never mentioned it on the blog for some reason. Microsoft announced today that Xbox 360 consoles will be available at reduced prices. The Xbox 360 Elite will drop from $449.99 to $399.99, the standard Xbox 360 will go from $349.99 to $299.99, and the Xbox 360 Arcade will see a reduction from $279.99 to $199.99. This decrease in price comes months before the crucial holiday season, and places the Xbox 360 Arcade within shouting distance of Nintendo’s Wii. While these prices don’t seem to have reached the GameStop or EB Games websites just yet, you can reap the benefits of this price drop directly from Microsoft’s official Xbox website.
Take-Two’s earning statement confirms BioShock 2 is coming in fiscal year 2009. That would likely put its release sometime next holiday season.
The report’s formatting initially had PS3, Xbox 360 and PC next to BioShock 2 but it has since been revised with “TBA.” With BioShock coming to PS3 shortly the odds of BioShock 2 being developed for both consoles are worth betting on. Whether it will appear on Xbox 360 first as a timed exclusive remains to be seen.
The report also states Grand Theft Auto IV has sold over 10 million copies worldwide as of August 16.
Also selling strong is Carnival Games on Wii and DS which combined have moved over 2 million units.
Other notable items in the release is a fiscal 2009 launch for Borderlands 2 and Superstars Wii NBA, the basketball version of MLB Superstars.

Media Molecule is making sure their anticipated platformer, LittleBigPlanet, is in tip-top shape when it launches this October 21. And to everyone’s luck, they’re turning to the public for assurance as Sony is planning to host a public beta test for the title this month.
According to the PlaystationBoard post, the beta test will focus more on the multiplayer aspect of the title–content uploads, downloads, sharing and more. “This kind of testing is often referred to as a Stress Test, however we’re looking a little more deeply into the game experience than simply throwing thousands of players at the online side of the game at the same time,” as stated in the developer post.
Sign-ups and participation information “will be made in public in advance of the test”. So as soon as Sony gives the go, we’ll let you know. LittleBigPlanet, published by Sony Computer Entertainment, will be available for the Playstation 3. Check out the latest vid of the title after the cut.
On the night of August 27, The Norris family of five decided to spend some quality time with each other and boarded their 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee to visit relatives residing in Diamond, Illinois. But little did they know that unfortunate events would soon occur during the trip. Their vehicle swerved off the road, hitting a guard rail and flipped four times before it crashed down on its roof.
With both parents, Karen and Robert Norris Jr., in a daze as they hang upside down, their daughter Audrey did the unthinkable–she climbed out of the broken back window ala Grand Theft Auto and helped her family out of the car. “She just knew, from playing Grand Theft Auto…She saw on there that when a car rolls over, it can blow up. She knew that could happen to us,” said by Karen Norris in the report.
So there you have it. No crimes, no deaths, no arrest–just a Grand Theft Auto inspired child saving lives.
Sony’s putting some heavy back up to their Playstation Portable this fall. Aside from the arrival of the brand spanking new PSP 3000, the handheld’s networking capabilities will further expand via a firmware update.
Starting this fall, PSP owners could gain access to the Playstation Store straight from their device. No longer will they have to plug in their portables to PS3s or PCs, as users will simply download and more directly from their PSP. And on top of that, the network pairing of the PSP to the PS3 will be significantly enhanced by being able to take select PSP titles’s ad-hoc multiplayer modes online through the PS3. While playing through the system, the PS3 can be used to message and chat with other players, as well as look for online matches. Sweet!
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, published by Capcom, is one of the initial titles capable of the new PSP-PS3 networking capability. More titles will be announced soon.
